I’m baaaaaaaacccckkk! 😀
ACK! What a long hiatus from blogging! @___@ But sadly, it was inevitable. The last 2 years of University can really eat up all your energy… So I owe you guys a long post!
Anyway, on a more exciting note, here’s what else I’ve been up to for the 2012 summer: Fashion’s Night Out Vancouver, 2012.
This Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) year is a very special one, because it is the .first.ever. FNO in Vancouver… and it is also the first time Canadian cities have actually joined the FNO bandwagon. Yes, we’re a bit behind, but now Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal have finally taken initiative to pilot FNO in Canada. Yay!
My experience for (the first ever!) FNO Vancouver is quite special. Primarily because I got to assist in organizing it, which means having the privilege to work alongside industry professionals. And wow, was I overwhelmed… in a good way. 🙂 Hopefully this gives you guys a different perspective of the FNO experience.
So… What is the experience of (intern-assistant) planning FNO Vancouver? To put it simply, it takes a lot of time (about 5-6 months), and a lot of team effort. I, along with other assistants, went about doing multiple tasks, from marketing, to managing, to social media, to fashion shows, and even to crowd control. And yes, some of us did experience sleepless nights… @_@ But, it really was a fulfilling role. Ultimately, it was exciting to be a part of something this big. And did I mention we had an awesome team? ❤
Check out some of the awesome events I helped with…
June 14, 2012: Fashion’s Night Out Vancouver Media Launch: I had to help around at reception and set-up for the fashion show. 😛
Getting the models ready… nice shoes! :))
Look at all the media people….
FNO Vancouver Flash Walk: This was so cool! As an advertising stint, and film shoot, we had four models, with body paint, ride sports cars and walk around the streets. The flash walk was held at 5 locations, and it sure stopped traffic… ❤
September 6, The BIG day: The moment has arrived! I mostly helped backstage for the public fashion show, which was held at the CBC studio 40! ❤ I’ve never helped out in a fashion show as big as this… so it was something to relish. All the blood and sweat of everyone boils down to this very day…
The happy reception…. :))

Whew! That was a long ride… but it was worth it. I had a memorable experience with the FNO Vancouver team. I’m even mulling over coming back next year. Hmmm… 😉 But for now, we’re celebrating a BIG SUCCESS on our first FNO year!
Stay tuned for next few weeks, ‘cuz fashion weeks in Vancouver are on their way! 😀
