From the Riri ❤ MAC Summer collection, here’s a swatch and dupe comparison of Riri Woo and Heaux. 🙂
I don’t do swatches and dupes often (or ever, for now), but some people have requested me to do this, so what the heck! 😛 I’m quite new to this, so if you have any suggestions or requests, please let me know in the comments below! xoxox!
The Riri ❤ MAC Summer collection is one of the multiple collaboration sets between Rihanna and MAC. It’s a highly anticipated release, since the launch of the Riri Woo lipstick last May ended with Riri Woo selling out worldwide in just two hours! The collection features 3 lipsticks, 1 blush-bronzer duo and 1 lustre drops, most of which are also sold out by now…. 😦
But I only opted for the 2 lipsticks: Riri Woo and Heaux because I’m a sucker for these kinds of lipstick colors! I know that there are already a lot of swatch comparisons (especially Riri Woo vs. Ruby Woo). So instead, I will do a swatch comparison with other lipsticks I already have. Hopefully, one of them will help you find a decent dupe.
Riri Woo: Described as “matte cool red”, and is said to be very similar to Ruby Woo. Since it is a blue/cool-toned red, it would suit all skin tones. Also, Riri Woo (and Ruby Woo) has a very bright shade, almost like a pink-undertone, which is also good because it would work for a wider age range. It’s almost like a one-shade fits all type of red-lipstick. Since it is matte, it will last long wear; but it does tend to be drying on the lips, so make sure you prep your lips first!
And now to compare Riri Woo to other red lipsticks I have…
Compared to Riri Woo, Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro 400 is has a deeper red and intensity, but that’s partially due to its liquid form. Nars Cruella has a darker red color, almost like a vampy red; it also has the same matte texture. Lime Crime Red Velvet is has slightly more red than Riri Woo (which has a bit of pink), and is more intense due to its liquid form. Besame Red is the most similar to Riri Woo; they have the same bright, cool-tone red with a pink brightness. The only difference is the finish, Besame Red has more of a sheen finish. ‘Good alternative to someone who wants the same color, but with a less drying effect on the lips. 🙂
Heaux: Described as “matte berry”, which is quite an accurate description. It’s a bright pink-ish purple color, not really a vampy shade. What I like most about this color is its season flexibity: you can wear this during spring/summer, and even through fall season. Heaux can also be very drying, so prep your lips as usual! 🙂
And now to compare Heaux with my other berry/burgundy lipsticks…
Compared to Heaux, Stila Liquid Lipstick in Aria and Hourglass Empress have a more plum shade, making it more vampy. Ellis Faas L104 has a brighter pink undertone, which can be sheered down to a stain finish. MAC Dark Side (my fave!) is a wine-colored burgundy, so it has darker red undertone than berry. Guerlain Rouge g’lextrait in Orgueil is a more pink-ish burgundy (it’s a very unusual color).
Overall, I’m very happy with these 2 lipsticks, especially Heaux. I think both lipsticks are good, but if you already have a lot of reds and berries, or MAC lipsticks, then these are unnecessary. Unless you are a die-hard Rihanna and MAC fan, you would be equally satisfied by other dupes.
‘Hope these were helpful! ❤ Stay tuned for the next Riri ❤ MAC collection… 🙂
